THE COLCA CANYON
Only a few hours dirve away from the city, in a valley in the northeast of the Arequipa region you will find the River Colca in the Colca Canyon, where you can see condors, llamas, alpacas, guanacos, vicunas, and vizcachas in their natural habitat. The Colca is the longest river in all of Peru and is a truely magnificent natural sight. It is more than 200 kilometers long and cuts through the millions of years old Andes. Along the river there are more than 14 settlements of indigenous people.
